How can a persons use be improved?
Alexander discovered that all our activities are dependent for their efficiency on a proper relationship of the head,
neck and back. This relationships is maintained when the head is delicately on the top of the spinal column by the appropriate
small muscles and not held by the larger outside muscles of the neck. When these large muscles unsurp the function of the smaller ones,
as in civilised man they commonly do, they contract the spine and produce undue tensions throughout the body.
This head neck back relationship constitues the Primary Control of the body and when it is properly directed the other uses of the body
tend to right themselves and function as they should. The head should lead the body, not the body the head. It is important therefore,
to establish this relationship; or to put it simply, to wear the head properly.
Alexander discovered, and demonstrated for over fifty years, that if this is done there follows a muscular harmony throughout the body.
He showed that if this relationship is disturbed the whole system is disorganised.
